Happy New Year to everyone!
I would like to begin by wishing you the best for the new year.
As last year proved fraught with many a natural disaster including Typhoon 19, we at JAIA extend our deepest sympathy to the victims and sincerely hope the earliest possible recovery.
Although adversely affected by the landing of ravaging typhoons in October, imported motor vehicles managed to record a strong sales performance in the Japanese market throughout the rest of months last year.
This was because of the successful marketing efforts of the JAIA member companies who actively provided the customers across Japan with new advanced safety and environmental models and new-generation models including electric and hybrid vehicles as well as broadened each of their model lineup in response to the diversifying lifestyles and needs of customers.
In parallel, last year JAIA provided continuous support for the business activities of its member companies while engaged in public liaison activities to accelerate the international harmonization of Japanese environmental and safety regulations and vehicle certification procedures for sustained development of the Japanese automobile market.
Additionally, for the new year, JAIA is committed to supporting its automobile and motorcycle member companies in supplying even more attractive vehicles to the customers across Japan and to encouraging Japan’s evolution into a sustainable mobility society, working side by side with the Japanese government, various public agencies, and automobile industry associations.
I would like to ask for your understanding of and continued support for the activities of JAIA in 2020 as well, and again, from the bottom of my heart, wish all of you the very best in the new year.
